Twenty 6 x 8 inch timber panels painted en plein air over 20 days at varying times make up this panoramic view of the landscape that is overlooked by Wollumbin (also known as Mt Warning) in northern NSW near Murwillumbah.
Created during a Nancy Fairfax residency through Tweed Regional Gallery and Margaret Olley Art Centre, this work was part of an installation that included an upscaled version of these works that explore the temporality and inherent variability of the landscape rather than just a ‘snapshot’ version. Timelapse video, bush soundscape and eco-printed silk banners also featured in the installation.
The panels are mounted on clear perspex so that the landscape appears to float in front of the wall it is hung in front of.
